Intro About World Archery Africa ( WAAf )

World Archery Africa (WAAf) or Formerly the Federation of African Archery (FAA) is the continental Association and the governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of archery in the African Continent. WAAf was founded in 28th September 1995 in Harare, Zimbabwe (ZIM), among the founding members were South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, and Kenya. WAAf is responsible for regulating and promoting archery on the African Continent, responsible for all levels of archery from grassroots to performance level. World Archery Africa has four zones (regions): (East – West – North – South) with (33) African Member Associations registered who regulate, promote and develop the sport in their respective regions. The federation is recognised by World Archery, The Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC) and The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

To be known as a well-run continent that has values to add and in which everyone has the opportunity to practice, engage with and enjoy the Olympic sport of archery.

WAAf Mission

To develop and promote archery through the empowerment of the African Member Associations at all levels.
To create better opportunities to organize archery events in all African Member Associations. To foster stronger athlete commitment and participation while respecting the Olympic values and principles of clean sport and fair play.

  • To enhance the quality and participation levels at archery events.
