After conducting a successful archery coaches course in Somalia, WAAf concluded the second part of the partnership with the Somali Archery Federation by sending 10 archery foam targets to Mogadishu last week. The Somali Archery Federation is one of many member associations which have been striving to develop archery in their countries. Organizing local archery events was difficult for them because of the lack of targets among other things. The Somali Archery Federation is also expecting to receive, hopefully soon, a beginner bow kit from World Archery within the context of the latter’s Equipment Assistance Program. Now that they received the support they needed (training beginner coaches and getting targets) from WAAf, it is hoped that they will soon organize their local championship and other events, which will be a huge leap forward for this small yet very active and ambitious federation.
It should be noted that 20 candidates benefitted from the coach training course that took place from 27 July to 1 August in Mogadishu, SOM as part of a partnership between WAAf and the Somali Archery Federation. Other projects are also planned for the remaining trimester of the year following WAAf’s commitment to help its MA’s in their efforts to develop archery in their countries.
